Senhora Button

Creative pattern designs – For brands that inspire and designers who excite

About me

My creative path

I've been creative since childhood—from the colorful pictures on my parents' kitchen door to the diverse handicrafts my grandmother lovingly taught me. My passion for sewing led me to train as an interior designer in 1998. Later, with my label uNIekE, I was able to successfully pursue my passion for children's and women's clothing, as well as decorative items, at craft markets.

Today, I work as a Surface Pattern Designer, creating vibrant, repeatable patterns for wallpaper, fabrics, and home decor that transform everyday objects into something special. I draw my inspiration from nature walks with my dog, my passion for photography, and the vibrant family life with my two teenage sons.

My design philosophy

In my designs, I combine the elegant formal language of classic pattern art with a fresh, contemporary expression. My approach combines traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques, placing particular emphasis on harmonious color palettes and thoughtful compositions. Each pattern tells its own story and bears my unmistakable signature.

My passion is to fill spaces with life through my unique creations and bring small moments of joy into my clients' everyday lives. I believe in the transformative power of design—how a well-designed pattern can completely transform a space and evoke positive emotions.

Why is my label called Senhora Button?

The label's name and logo reflect my Portuguese roots. The rooster in the logo refers to the legend of Barcelos. The symbolic meaning of the Portuguese rooster is its association with luck and prosperity in Portuguese culture. "Senhora" translates to woman in Portuguese. "Button," from the English for button, has its origins in my former nickname, Knopf, as my uncle affectionately called me. Unfortunately, I don't know how he came up with that, and I can't ask him anymore. But as a child, it made me feel so special that I wanted to incorporate it into my label as part of my story.
