About

I I have been creative since I was a child. I have done everything from painting, embroidery, knitting, crocheting and sewing. Sewing was what I was most passionate about, so I trained as an interior designer. I sat behind the sewing machine for many years and sold children's and women's clothing, decorative items and accessories under my label uNIeKE. Until I became aware of surface design.

Not only buying beautiful fabrics from other designers, but bringing my own ideas to life is what motivates me for Surface Design. I love making our world more colorful and friendly, which is also influenced by my passion for photography. My designs are inspired by my personal world: my partner, my sons and our family dog Miley, as well as my experience as an interior designer.

That's why my designs are sometimes cheerfully colorful and sometimes a little more subtle, depending on what moves me at the moment.

Why is my label called Senhora Button?

The name and logo of the label reflect my Portuguese roots. The rooster in the logo refers to the legend of Barcelos. The symbolic meaning of the Portuguese rooster is its association with luck and prosperity in Portuguese culture. "Senhora" means woman in Portuguese. "Button", from the English for button, has its origins in my former nickname Button, as my uncle affectionately called me. Unfortunately, I don't know how he came up with that, and I can't ask him anymore. But it made me feel so special as a child that I wanted to include it in my label as part of my story.
